Church on the Streets

Sisters from Bon Secours and OLA answer Pope Francis' call by going out into the streets of Cork.

A number of Sisters from the Bon Secours and Sr. Mary Crowley OLA recently held an awareness day at the Blackpool Shopping Centre, Cork. The trio received a warm welcome from management, staff and shoppers alike. Many prayer requests were taken over the course of the day while more stopped to talk with the Sisters. The initiative follows Pope Francis 2013 call for the church to go out into the streets.

“I prefer a Church which is bruised, hurting and dirty because it has been out on the streets, rather than a Church which is unhealthy from being confined and from clinging to its own security."
