IMU and CORI Come Together in Mission
Amalgamation paves way for new entity: Association of Missionaries and Religious of Ireland (AMRI).

The Irish Missionary Union (IMU) and the Conference of Religious of Ireland (CORI) are amalgamating to become the Association of Missionaries and Religious of Ireland (AMRI). The new headquarters for AMRI will be Cypress Grove, Templeogue, Dublin 6W, the Provincialate of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers). It is expected that AMRI will commence operations in the next two weeks.
A joint statement issued by the respective presidents of the IMU and CORI, Sr. Kathleen McGarvey OLA, and Fr. Gregory Carroll OP, stated "We believe that a new national entity will facilitate renewal and a more effective mission outreach".
The purpose of AMRI will be to respond to the existing and emerging realities in Ireland and overseas by supporting and energising the members and the wider church.
The IMU was set-up in 1970 to enable collaboration between the many Irish missionary groups. CORI was formed in 1960 with conferences for men and women, which was later amalgamated into one conference in 1983. CORI acts as a forum for religious to work together on their common mission. CORI and the IMU are two of the largest membership organisations in Ireland.
