World Meeting of Families: Dublin 2018
Preparations in full swing as Dublin prepares to host family events in less than 17 months.
The World Meeting of Families will take place in Dublin from 21st-26th August, 2018. The theme of the event is 'The Gospel of the Family: Joy for the World'.
The theme was inspired by Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love) - Pope Francis' apostolic exhortation which was published on 8th April, 2016. An apostolic exhortation is a message from the Pope himself, rather than being Church doctrine. If focuses on 'The Family'.
The Dublin event will commence with an opening ceremony on Tuesday, 21st August 2018, which coincides with the feast of Our Lady of Knock. It will be followed by a three day 'World Meeting of Families Congress'. A 'Festival of Families' will take place on Saturday, 25th August 2018 with a closing mass scheduled for the following day.
A spokesperson for the World Meeting of Families encourages everyone to get involved by registering their interest in volunteering at the event, following World Meeting of Families on social media or by donating.
