Clippings from Cape Coast

Sr. Maura Cranney has been on mission at the OLA Formation House in Brafuyaw, Cape Coast, Ghana since last September.

There are currently nine postulants in the Formation House. The five second years are preparing to move on to the Novitiate while the first years continue here until October when they too will go to Bukina Faso for their (French) language course. They have French classes to give them a good preparation for this experience. I am trying to teach them some sewing, an introduction to the computer and a smattering of accounts. Being present with and to them is the most satisfying part of my Ministry and one I enjoy.

The 10th Annual Congregation in OLA College of Education where 364 young women graduated with a Diploma in Basic Education specializing in Science and Mathematics; Social Science – General Programme; and Early Childhood Education. The number is possibly as big a number as the entire enrolment in times past! It was indeed heart-warming and encouraging to see and to listen to speaker after speaker praise the achievements of the Principal and staff of this College which has grown so much since Mother Aquiline planted that initial seed 90 years ago.

Wishing you all a sunny Summer and good health to enjoy it. If I could bottle the heat I would willingly send you some!
