Cork Lord Mayor to Launch Interfaith Calendar

Calendar was produced by the Three Faiths Forum group in Cork.

A novel interfaith calendar will be launched by the Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Tony Fitzgerald, next Wednesday, 13th December at 4.30pm in City Hall.

The event will be attended by members of the Three Faiths Forum Cork group along with children from local schools and representatives from each of the three faith communities.

The calendar features the main Jewish, Islamic and Christian feast and holy days of 2018. It also gives a explanation as to the significance of each of the feasts and holy days.

Commenting on the upcoming launch, a spokesperson for Three Faiths Forum Cork said the group were 'looking forward' to the event and the opportunity to 'generate conversation and increase understanding' of interfaith dialogue.

Three Faiths Forum, also known as 3FF, was set-up in the UK over twenty years ago. It has works to build good relations between people of different faiths, beliefs and identities for over twenty years.

According to the website, it creates spaces in 'schools, universities, and the wider community where people can engage with questions of belief and identity and meet people different from themselves'. This enables people 'from different backgrounds – both religious and non-religious – to learn from each other and work together'.

The Three Faiths Forum group in Cork was formed last year.
