Ireland Celebrates Africa Day

Thousands turn out across country to mark Africa Day 2016.

Events took place over the weekend to mark Africa Day in Ireland. The occasion was organized by Irish Aid,  who administers Ireland's overseas development programme. The flagship celebration took place at Farmleigh, Dublin with President Michael D. Higgins in attendance. Many people also gathered in Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford for African themed events. Africa Day, now in its ninth year of  existence, celebrates African culture and diversity while highlighting the strong links which exist with Ireland.
