OLA Sisters Celebrate Extraordinary Month of Mission

Mass Our Mission as Healing.jpg

Our sisters celebrated the Extraordinary Month of Mission by hosting Mass in the chapel at Ardfoyle Convent on Wednesday evening.

The theme of the Mass was ‘Our Mission as Healing’ and it was well attended by Religious congregations, members of the community and members the OLA staff.

Congregants met in the hall and each person was given a Thumb Mission Rosary. After the words of welcome by Provincial Leader, Sr Kathleen McGarvey, Sr Mairead and Sr Janet led us in the Rosary.

Sr Eithna Synnott delivered the homily, speaking on the healing power of self forgiveness and leading the congregation through a guided meditation.

The Chief Celebrant at the Mass was Father Malachy Flanagan, Provincial Leader of the SMA (Society of African Missions).

Sr Patricia McMenamin spoke a few words on the Algerian Martyrs with special reference to OLA Sisters Angéle Marie and Bibiane.

We also remembered and prayed for SMA Father Luigi Macalli, who remains captive after being kidnapped in September 2018, from his parish Church in Niger.

The intentions of the congregants, which had been placed in a calabash at the entrance to the chapel, were placed on the altar.

It was a wonderful, uplifting evening, and well enjoyed by all who attended.

The OLA sisters would like to thank all who attended for sharing in their celebration of the Extraordinary Month of Mission.
