Pope's Prayer Intentions for January

Pope Francis' first prayer intention of 2018 focuses on religious minorities in Asia. He prays that Christians and other religious minorities are afforded the 'full freedom' required to practice their faiths.

Pope Francis made a five-day pastoral visit to Bangladesh and Myanmar at the end of November 2017.

In the video to accompany this month's prayer intention (see below), the pontiff refers to the 'risks' and 'challenges' faced in Asia by Christians and other minorities groups alike. He encourages us to 'place ourselves on the side of the men and women who fight to avoid renouncing their religious identity' and asks that we 'pray for all of them'.

In a change to the usual monthly format, the pontiff's prayer intentions for 2018 will alternate between evangelization intentions and universal intentions.
