The OLA English Medium Nursery Primary School Bugisi located in Bugisi, Tanzania, began with a small classroom at the Bugisi Vocational Training Centre (BVTC) in 2012.
A new, purpose built school began construction in 2015, with the building costs covered by OLA Irish Province. To make it possible for children from the surrounding villages to attend the school, and to reduce the need for boarding, we have also invested in school busses.
We are delighted to share that construction is now complete and that there are now over 300 children registered in the school. This year, the first group of pupils will be graduating from Primary VII.

To help reduce feeding costs, the school has its own farm where they grow produce such as rice and vegetables and keep livestock including cows, goats and chickens.
Sr Rita Dung OLA, from Nigeria, has been the principal of the school since it’s inception and can be seen pictured below. For the past four years Sr Edwige Boco OLA, from Benin, has also worked in the school, and together with their committed staff, they care for the pupils and give them a solid and wholesome preparation for the journey of life ahead. We wish the class VII pupils the very best in their exams as they prepare to graduate. We keep them all in our prayers.
